Academy
The International Living Museum Academy offers comprehensive training to become a certified Living Museum Director, enabling candidates to either open their own Living Museum with the support from the Living Museum Society or apply for a director position at an existing location. The syllabus consists of practical work, a personal study portfolio, and can also be embedded in academic research projects.
Practical Training & Studio Portfolio
Engage in full- or part-time work at an international Living Museum, with internships available at selected locations for qualified candidates. Each trainee receives a ‚How-to-Living-Museum‘ study portfolio, which provides a theoretical framework and a personalized development roadmap to explore and integrate the Living Museum philosophy and methods into their own facilitation and work.
Research Opportunities & Benefits
Participants may conduct research within a Living Museum or author academic study papers under the mentorship of experienced Living Museum Directors with academic expertise. Upon successful completion, participants earn a Living Museum Director Certificate, awarded by a jury from the Living Museum Society. This certificate qualifies graduates to launch and manage their own local initiative independently or work at an established Living Museum. Additional, potential financial support for starting a new Living Museum may also be available, subject to approval by the Living Museum Society. The Living Museum network is steadily growing, with more spaces being established within mental health institutions and as independent initiatives worldwide.
